Welcome to the Hollingsworth and Jungen family genealogy site!
30 April 2008 - 12:40:02am

This is a genealogy site based around the Hollingsworth, Kosmer/Kostmerchock, Suchaneck, Jungen, Barlow, Balthazar, Fischer, Augustin, Wellner, Oldham and Simms surnames. Many other surnames are on this site, so feel free to take a look around.

Registration is recommended and is required to access certain parts of the website. Once registered, you will be able to help by editing information, adding names or whatever is desired. Feel free to contribute.

This site is undergoing construction. Also, links in the family tree are not 100% confirmed in some areas. Some links are hunches, leads and best guesses. It's a work in progress aimed at helping further investigation. It should be pretty accurate back to at least the Civil War period, though. Post a message in the Message Forum to share any information.

The genealogy information on this website is powered by PhpGedView 4.1.3. This page provides an introduction and overview to this genealogy.

To begin working with the data, choose one of the charts from the Charts menu, go to the Individual list, or search for a name or place.

If you have trouble using the site, you can click on the Help icon to give you information on how to use the page that you are currently viewing.

Thank you for visiting this site.

OL Adams general store

View Person -- Austin Adams  (I187)

Show Details Note: A nice picture sent to me by Cheryl Clark.
I have a larger version of this picture if you wish to print it out. E-mail me from the link on the front page if you want it.

Cheryl has this to say:

"OL Adams Store - Austin may have owned this vs. his son Oscar Adams (or they
were partners with James Fawbush - this is verbally what Austin's
granddaughter and my husband's grandmother Pauline Fawbush Cunningham
Weisondorff Johnson Hind McCabe [yes, she had FIVE husbands] told me).

The Texarkana City Directory/Classified Business Directory 1899-1900 under
general stores shows A.A. Adams, owner with Oscar L. Adams as a clerk.

The photo was taken about 1885 - 1889 (?) in Texarkana. On the porch from
left to right: Unknown (probably Oscar Adams), two children (unknown -
probably Oscar's), Austin Adams and James Fawbush. James Fawbush died in
1899 so photo was obviously taken before then. On the front of the
building, Petrie-Bell is painted. Bell Louis was a sign painter, located at
1015 County Ave, Texarkana. Broadway Baxter was a paper hanger, his
partner. Per Janis Estes, Austin had a store in Bivins, Texas and also in
Slidell, Louisiana before moving to Humble, Texas where he had a saloon at
Moonshine Hill, Texas."

This GEDCOM's Favorites  (2)

Sarah Josephine Simms is one of the more heavily documented people on this site. She moved with her family from Tennessee to Arkansas in the 1850s. James Frank Hollingsworth was injured in the Battle of Helena in the Civil War, fighting on the Confederate side. His buddies took him to a nearby home to recover, where he met Sarah and fell in love. They married in 1864. See Sarah's page and specifically her media section to see various scans of census sheets and letters.
Adele Racek-Holzer is another favorite. We don't yet know verified information about her proper full name, but it seems she's of Czech lineage, though via Austria. She's got a fairly large amount of data in her media section, including a picture of the ship she came to the States aboard.
